More than just young at heart

For just a brief moment I was worried that I had joined the land of the old fogies. Good news: at least some parts of me (like my ears) are still young! YIPPEE! How do you fare?

P.S. This is legit. Shawn has tried using it in the presence of a fifty-year-old and the subject was unable to hear the noise.

Parent Teacher Conference

Last night was Parent Teacher Conference. One would think after having a 14-hour day that I would have been miserable and exhausted, however, I was quite surprised that I rather enjoyed myself. It was fun to meet the parents of my students and to be able to "chip in" a few remarks on the students behalf. I thought I would post that little tidbit before I head out for another long day at school. Tonight is the vocal Solo/Ensemble recital. A few of my friends (from UVU) and I will be judging and I am proud to say that I have helped quite a few of the students prepare their pieces. It has been a lot of fun and I am excited to see the results!! Well, I better jet! Have an awesome day everyone!!

Nothing too exciting. . . . well, on second thought

I apologize for not posting in such a long time but there hasn't really been anything too exciting to tell or talk about. Here is what's going on in my life:

Item No. 1: I am halfway through my fourth week of student teaching in which 2 1/2 of them I have been sick. I went to the doctor today (finally) and was given a prescription for some antibiotics.

Item No. 2: On a much happier note, someone upstairs is really looking out for me; I found out yesterday that they are going to allow student teachers in the music program to keep their scholarships! (I'm sorry Mari.) This really brightened my day!

Item No. 3: I am applying for graduation tomorrow!

Item No. 4: Only 6 1/2 weeks left! I really am enjoying student teaching--I love the students, the subject and my cooperating teacher. However, I do not enjoy the exhaustion, rowdy Sophomores (on some days) and the early, long hours.

All in all life is good, just very busy and very tiring. Hope everything is going well for all of you! TTFN--Ta Ta For Now!

1 Down, 49 More to Go!

Today marks my first day as a student teacher. I was so anxious and nervous that I awoke at 4 AM and had a difficult time going back to sleep. I arrived early and waited for the "orientation." I found out my first concert with the students will be on February 24th! AHHH! So soon. Oh well. I am ready to be done with this whole school thing. I ought to be, I've been going for a long time!

Merry Christmas!!

First off, I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! May we all enjoy the holiday and the true spirit of Christmas! Secondly, Shawn and I received our final grades this evening and they were excellent! Shawn did very, very well (I'll let him brag) and I did very well considering how many credits I was taking! Here's a pic of my grades! Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Shopping

You never realize how difficult it is to find gifts for the ones you love until you attempt to do so! Shawn and I just spent 3 hours trying to find gifts for our families and only came away with 2 out of the 7 left! I really love the Christmas season. It is the only time of the winter that I am somewhat happy (the gloomy skies really bum me out.) However, being out amongst inconsiderate people really puts a damper on my Christmas spirit. People are constantly walking into you or trying to run you over with their carts! (I was raised that when you are walking in front of someone you say "Excuse me" and I rarely see this while I'm shopping.) I also have difficulty being surrounded by a trillion people because I am so claustrophobic! Anyway. . . . . . enough about that rant!
While we were out, I stumbled upon the Elvis and Priscilla dolls that I have been drooling over. However, I couldn't bear to part with $60 for a couple of beautiful barbie dolls. Oh well. Below is a (lovely) picture of myself with the coveted set and . . . . my new hair do. It's hard to tell in the picture but I had my hair cut in an a-line and I love it! Shawn loves the color but is not too fond of the cut. He's more of a long-haired kinda guy but that's ok. I'm really happy with my hair! Hope you are all having a happy holiday season!

Pay it Forward

I thought this was really neat. Apparently not all of us have forgotten what Christmas is truly about.
